Here in the Philippines, in August this year, House Bill 10439 received overwhelming approval from lawmakers in the lower house of Congress. The bill legalizes the use of cannabis for the treatment of various ailments of qualified patients to be availed of on prescription and under supervision of accredited physicians. The bill also establishes a Medical Cannabis Office (MCO) which together with the Dangerous Drug Board, is tasked to screen medical practitioners who can prescribe the use of medical cannabis.
The bill has yet to be approved by the Senate.
